What Is Resin Bound?

A RHINO resin bound surface is a made up from a mixture of natural aggregates and polyurethane resin which is trowelled down by hand. Here is an insight into our 6 step process on how we install a RHINO resin bound surface.

1. A full excavation of the exisitng surface takes place, with a digout from between 150-250mm depending on the requirements from the site survey.

2. Installation of a geotextile membrane and ground reinforcement grid for additional structural ground support.

3. MOT Type 1 hardcore is deposited and spread across the surface. Block lines are concreted in at this stage to create a hard edge.

4. The MOT Type 1 is compacted in 100mm intervals, ensuring a fully compact surface.

5. 40mm of our RHINO rubber crumb base is installed which is made out of recycled vehicle tyres, granite stone and a resin binder.

6. A final 20mm of the RHINO resin bound surface is installed to complete the job at hand!
